To be honest, blogging is kind of hard. But it allows you to open up to your readers, fill them in on your publishing journey, and show them how tough writing books can really be. I do secretly like it, though. But sometimes it's hard. It's hard to let others peek into your heart!
And that's just what writing is to me. A piece of my heart left behind on the page. After all, I get very connected to my characters. Sometimes it's hard to say, "I'm finished! This book is perfect! Let's go ahead and take it to print!" I can't always do that so simply. Most of the time, I keep asking myself, "Is it really ready?" "Did you portray that character exactly how you wanted to?" "Are you sure you want her to say that?" And there is the challenge. When is a book totally ready to be published? When can a writer finally let go?
The answer really is never. We, as writers, are always rewriting, editing, looking for those crazy mistakes, and even wishing we had changed certain lines or wording. So, in truth, books are never truly ready. They aren't even always finished. They are constantly growing, morphing and changing. But mostly, they are growing. And that is why publishing can be such a tricky business. Not only tricky, but truly magical!
