I was visiting two elementary schools this morning, dropping by to sign books and visit with the kids who had ordered them. As I was driving back, my GPS took me down a neat, winding road. It was a beautiful scenic route, so I was just enjoying my surroundings, watching a stream go by or checking out some pretty trees. (It would have been even more enjoyable if the car right behind me wasn't driving so close! They were making me nervous the whole time. I hate that!) And then as I wound around a bend, there was a little turtle slowly inching his way over the yellow lines and to the other side, away from my tires. I slowed down once I realized what it was because I didn't want to hit him. He was so cute and determined, picking up his front legs high and pulling himself across the road. As I continued around the curve, another car came flying around the bend coming towards me. I silently prayed that the person would slow down enough to see the little turtle and not hit him!
Sometimes I feel like that little turtle, determined to finish a project, no matter what life tries to throw at me. But I also feel the pressures of life and time and other commitments, so sometimes I just want to relax! But I have put my mind to it that I will finish Book Four in The Wonky Witch Book Series by September 1st for an October release! I will do it! I will reach the other side of the road!
As for that poor little turtle (I have named him Fred), I hope he got to the other side of the road. I really hope he did. And I'm sure if he made it, he's munching on some leaves, having no idea that a whole blog is being written about him at this very moment. Best of luck, Fred!
