Marketing your books is very different for every author. For adult indie authors, they might try to get their book into local book clubs, do as many signings and events as they can, and also have a strong online presence. For an indie children's author, like myself, I try to get out there where the kids are! I book as many school visits as I can. I visit local Girl Scout troops and kids' writing clubs. I let my dance and theater students know about my books. And I even make sure that my website is bright and colorful, enough to make kids want to visit each page and have fun along with me!
I saw an article advertised on Facebook today about a book on how to market your books, and it made me really start to think. Sometimes what works for one author, might not work for others. And there's a big difference between promoting adult books and children's books. But I'm always interested in hearing what others say about marketing their writing. I might learn some helpful tips! So I might get the book and see what I can learn from another author. I love learning!
As I really push myself this year with my writing and also with promoting and marketing my books, I will take any advice given to me. I will try anything to keep getting the word out and keep stretching my wings and growing along with my writing. This will be an exciting year for me. I have decided that I will be blogging each day about my struggles, and also sharing my successes! I can't wait to continue on this journey and see where 2015 takes me. I hope you join me in this exciting adventure! See you in the bookstore!
